Talking about Portuguese musicians is always a joy for Portuguese blog Opus Sound, so today we're sharing with you Moullinex's newest remix for Glen Check. Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, Glen Check are an indie band that seems to love the 80's a bit too much, as their sound is teeming with vintage synthesizers, retro basslines and lavish rhythms. Their second album, 'YOUTH!', came out on november 2013, via Sony Music. Now, their single 'Pacific', taken from that LP is getting the remix treatment by a few artists like Justin Faust, Les Loups and brilliant Moullinex.

Discotexas frontman Moullinex (Luís Clara Gomes) has been quite active lately. His debut album, 'Flora', was critically acclaimed and is still present in our minds and cd players. He's released several mindblowing remixes for artists like Kraak & Smaak, Midlake, Rebeka, Munk and Xinobi, and his dazzling take on Röyksopp & Robyn's new single 'Do It Again' garnered him even more attention.

For 'Pacific', Glen Check's brand new single, he has strenghtened the funkier side of the track, throwing it one more decade into the past, right into the 70's, and the result invites us to succumb to the dancefloor laws; it's something that wouldn't sound awkward on Moullinex's album or even in Daft Punk's 2013 ubiquitous 'Random Access Memories'. It's a rare talent, the one displayed by Moullinex, to effortlessly bend any track's charater to his will and sound fresh and compelling.

And Moullinex will recently be featured on compilation album 'T(h)ree vol 3 - From Portugal to Japan and South Korea' with his song alongside Portuguese Best Youth (Ed Rocha Gonçalvez and Catarina Salinas), 'In the Shade', an exotic and magic ride into an orange sunset ocean. Pure bliss!

Check Moullinex's own vision of Glen Check's 'Pacific' and remember his remix for Röyksopp & Robyn's 'Do It Again'. After that, make sure you don't miss the funny video for 'In the Shade', filmed near Lisbon's Ponte Vasco da Gama.

After the critically acclaimed single 'Chandelier', which definitely put Sia up in the mainstream stardome and made her reach an audience that might had never listened to her work, it's now time for a new song to display just how good she is, both as a singer and a songwriter (something she expressed throughout her all career, actually). Unfortunately, becoming famous seemed to have taken its toll on Sia, when after the success of her fifth album 'We Are Born' (2010), she became addicted to alcohol and drugs and almost commited suicide. But that's all behind her back now, as she's determined to conquer the world through her wonderful and powerful voice.

'Eye of the Needle' is the second single of the recently titled new album '1000 Forms of Fear', which will be released on July 8th. It's her sixth LP and it sees Diplo and Greg Kurstin handling the production. It's a more subtle song, far from the excesses of 'Chandelier', but it still makes it perfectly clear why many other famous singers have songs writen by Sia (Rhianna, David Guetta, Britney Spears...).

The album will feature twelve songs, including the already released two singles and 'Elastic Heart', the song that Sia wrote and performed, alongside Weeknd and Diplo and that was featured on 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' soundtrack, which is, in itself, a brilliant piece of music.

Listen to 'Eye of the Needle' and watch the magnetic official video for 'Chandelier', featuring 12 years old dancer Maddie Ziegler in a stunning performance.

In less than a month, the über-cool La Roux (Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid) have unveiled two tracks from their sophomore album, 'Trouble in Paradise'. After the mellow but effective single 'Let Me Down Gently', it's time for 'Uptight Downtown' to stir things up a bit.

La Roux's sound is less electronic and takes a step further in the use of live instruments, which make the tracks feel more organic and tangible. The result, in this case the new single 'Uptight Downtown', is an up-tempo song, riddled with guitar riffs that woudn't sound strange in a Niles Rodger's tune. It has a pop structure, but also has some funk and soul quirckiness that trully make it remarkable and fresh, but still imediately recognizable as a La Roux track. Sure, the 80's vibe isn't so dominant, but all that has made them famous in the past is present: breezy vibes, careful songwriting and pure pop inventiveness.

A few days ago, the official videoclip for the previous single 'Let Me Down Gently' has surfaced, and it shows Elly in a minimalistic visual approach, far from the artifices of previous videos. Also, a remix of the track by the talented Prins Thomas was made available.

Check them all right now, while you wait for 'Trouble in Paradise' to drop (on July 7).

These are excelent news, indeed. British singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ali Love has unveiled details about his third album, 'P.U.M.P.'. Four years after 'Love Harder' granted him a well-deserved spot in the pantheon of nu-disco masters, producing awesome singles like 'Smoke & Mirrors' and 'Moscow Girl', it's time for him to move into new territories, where deep house seems to have a major influence.

The new album will feature twelve songs, from which two tracks are already known: 'Emperor', a dark and heavily synthetic techno jam that hints at S&M liaisons, and the just released 'Deep Into the Night', that showcases Love's talent for creating gripping electronic diamonds. He is credited for playing all instruments and keys and doing all the programming on the new LP.

As you can recall, throughout these four years Ali Love hasn't been quiet. He's also a member of Infinity Ink and Hot Natured (which released their excelent debut 'Different Sides of the Sun' last year), both house music projects that surely profited from his involvement and also let him grow as an artist and musician.

While 'P.U.M.P.' isn't released on Crosstown Rebels Records (we'll have to wait until July 14th), listen to the new track 'Deep Into the Night', a soulful tune that raises from Love's impecable chants with deep basslines and playful backvocals, while crystaline effects pour like silvery drops of liquid stardust right into your ears.

Also don't forget to (re)watch his frightful video for 'Emperor'.

Satin Jackets is the moniker of German Tim Bernhardt, a Dj and music producer that dwells in the balearic spectre of electronic music. His music, be it in the form of original tunes or highly praised remixes, always has a lush sound and it can easily make you go down the memory lane with its vintage synthesizers and nostalgic atmospheres.

Having already featured other artists like KLP and Patrick Baker in his own songs, he is also a fruitful remixer: his reworks of songs by the likes of Tesla Boy, Gero, Follow Me and, more recently, Salt Ashes, have the power to send the originals into new sonic directions, that are both exciting and intriguing.

His newest effort is a remix for 'Tendency', a wonderful online collaboration between Estate & Liquid Pegasus, two acts that have worked together to release an EP with the same title. Estate is a duo from Minneapolis and New York City (composed of Josh Johnson and Dan Kramer) who produce funk and sun soaked music, while Tokyo-based Liquid Pegasus really likes groovy rhythms and retro soundscapes, so their combined tastes result in three sultry tracks that capture the 70's and 80's brisk vibes but gown them with today's modern concepts of electronic melodies and ambiences.

The original 'Tendency' has a nice house thump that infects your body with viral precision and summery synths that envelope the whispered male vocals to create a delightful tune. Satin Jackets' remix emphasizes the track freshness and builds up for almost two minutes before the drums kick in. It's a dandy affair, the one that he exploits in this remix, as he interweaves sensuality with lazy harmonies and puts up the perfect song for staying in bed with your love on a Summer morning.

You'd do well to listen to the entire EP, as songs like 'Tuff Luv' and 'Banana Boat' also have their charm and the release comes with other remixes from Keenhouse, Edit Murphy, First Touch and SloSlyLove. Oh, and watch the video for 'Tendency', for it's the first 3D GIF music video ever.

You may know her voice from her collaborations with M83, as Morgan Kibby was featured in several songs by the french musician. In 'Saturdays = Youth' and 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' she lends her beautiful voice to some of the most iconic tracks writen by M83.

But since 2010, she's also been working in her own material under the moniker White Sea, releasing an EP in that year: 'This Frontier', from which songs like 'Ladykiller' and 'Cannibal Love' have already let us take a peek into her retro and new-wave revival dreamscapes, a place where cold synths ruled and her voice sounded dangerously enticing.

Now, four years later, Kibby is ready to release her debut album, titled 'In Cold Blood', to be released on May 20 via Crush Music. The album will comprise ten songs that brilliantly disclose her powerful voice and depends heavily on synthpop and indie elements to create immersive tunes, but sometimes she draws inspiration in other genres. 'This record couldn't have been more self-reflective or personal if I had tried. I took many cues from Prince, Donna Summer and countless films to hopefully impart a deeply moving and almost visual experience for people when they listen', says Kibby on the album press release.

The album opener 'The Don't Know' is an apotheotic song (it could perfectly be used as an Olympic Games hymn...) and it conveys so many emotions that it truly lifts our spirits high. The video, presents artists mesmerizingly dancing underwater, wrapped around colorful silken tissues. Check it out and also listen to 'Future Husbands Past Lives', another song from the upcoming album.

We're just gonna be as straightforward as we can: iamamiwhoami is one our favourite music projects; and it should be one of yours too.

They began in 2009 as a mysterious and viral project, releasing cryptic videos that had hidden clues and meanings behind the distorted and dazzling images. The identity of the lead singer was highly speculated, but eventually the evergrowing comunity of mesmerized fans discovered that iamamiwhoami was the audiovisual project of Swedish musician and songwriter Jonna Lee and her producer Claes Björklund. The first series of songs and videos, known as 'bounty', established the group's own mythology, a stylish and enigmatic fantasy that displayed influences on the mandrake plant folklore.

The next series of songs and videos, released simultaneously through their own imprint, To Whom it May Concern, would become the project's first album, 'kin' (2012), an audiovisual experience that couldn't be fully perceived and enjoyed separatedly. The songs tell a story as much as the beautiful videos, delving deeper in the major themes the group had already presented: birth, progeny, motherhood, sexuality, identity, light & darkness, nature and the celebration of life.

On January 2014, a new series of songs and videos began: titled 'generated', it asked for donations. The funds were promised to "be used for creative purpose only" and, after watching the first three videos, it sure is worth it. Until now, three singles have been released: 'Fountain', 'Hunting for Pearls' and the brand new 'Vista'. They explore a new scenery, with icy landscapes and motifs, building new mythology and making our eyes open in awe for the wonderfully filmed videos, riddled with details and breathtaking vistas, in which Jonna appears as a trancendent figure, both fragile and inaccessible at the same time, conveying emotions with a simple eye blink. She is trully a great artist!

As for the music, it is more corporeous. While 'kin' was brutally naked and undressed from the group's more vibrant sounds, the new songs are more lively, garnished with crystaline synths and enticing melodies. We're quite anxious to see where they will take us this time. If you don't know iamamiwhoami, we suggest you watch their first videos and let yourselves become entangled in their magic. For now, we share the first three videos of the 'generated' series.

Single after single, the twin sister duo Say Lou Lou are making us more and more anxious for their forthcoming debut album. Elektra and Miranda Kilbey grew up between Australia and Sweden (their parents home countries), so it's only comprehensible that their sound has that dream pop / dream wave quality that could only result from the mix of these two countries.

After successfull singles like 'Maybe You', 'Julian' and 'Better in the Dark', the siblings have recently unveiled a new song, 'Everything We Touch'. Floating like a seagull over the ocean, the single is a perfect tune to play as the weather gets warmer. It's riddled with pop sweetness and a youth radiance that it will, surely, make you go down the memory lane into your juvenile memories, when Summer days went on forever, brimming with promises and adventures. Truth be told, ABBA would be proud.

Officially, the song will be released on June 2, with a b-side called 'Peppermint', and has already received a videoclip, which you can watch below. It is as colorful and vibrant as the song suggests, and shows Say Lou Lou painted in gold and becoming one with the cosmos. About the album (to be released on their own label À Deux), the girls have stated that they have a lot of songs ready and that they really want to quickly get them out there; Sounds great!

The sisters also have been selective about the remixers for their songs, preferring producers who never fail in delivering quality music like Tiger & Woods, Lancelot, Dan Lissvik, Martin Dubka, Monsieur Adi, Montauk and CFCF, so now they got Yannis Philippakis (from Foals) to remix 'Everything We Touch', and he really puts on a show at reimagining the tune. Be sure not to miss it!

He's a living legend.
Giorgio Moroder is the pioneer of modern electronic music, becoming famous during the 70s and the 80s when he founded synth disco and electronic dance music. He worked with Donna Summer, David Bowie, Blondie (just to name a few) and has composed original soundtracks for movies like Midnight Express, The Never Ending Story and Scarface. It's impossible to forget his classic hits for Queen of Disco Donna Summer, 'Love to Love You Baby' and 'I Feel Love'.

Now at 73 years old, Moroder's career seems to have been fueled again and he doesn't show any signs of slowing down. The Italian producer, songwriter, performer and DJ has recently collaborated with Daft Punk on their newest album, 'Random Access Memories', where he talks about his influential contribuition to music, and he is working on a new album (still untitled).

Now, he has reworked Coldplay's new single, 'Midnight', which will feature on the band's sixth full-lenght, 'Ghost Stories' (out 19 May). The original song shows Coldplay diverging from their alternative rock and joyous sound to an experimental and introspective take on electronics. Moroder's remix adds synthetic dreamscapes and epic and thrilling layers of magic, even tossing in some frech vocals filtered through vocoder effects. It's quite breathtaking and always a pleasure to listen to two brilliant and distinctive acts work out together in such a wonderous way.

Listen to the remix and check the videoclip for Coldplay's 'Midnight'.

Let's make it clear (for those who don't know it already): Architecture in Helsinki are not from Helsinki. They're from Victoria, Australia. And they're not into architecture either. They make music. Now that's out of the way, let us share with you their brand new videoclip for 'I Might Survive', one of the most enthralling songs from their fifth album, 'NOW + 4EVA'.

On 2011, the band ventured into a new sound direction with 'Moment Bends', adding more pop to their music and while keeping their childish soul intact. The happiness and the good vibes are still a trademark of the group, that now adds vibrant and dazzling colour to the package. In 'NOW + 4EVA' the music is one with the dyes, feeling as saturated as they look on the videoclips the band has already released.

Now it's time for 'I Might Survive' to receive a shiny and vivid clip, where the band's members play with symmetry in bright and colourful clothes (yellow, pink, blue and orange are the main palett), while Kellie Sutherland sings along this fast-paced live canvas. In the end, it's impossible for anyone to feel sad or depressed, as both the video and the song lift us up, shake off the dust from our shoulders and put a warming and comforting arm around us. It's like drinking hot chocolate on a rainy day by the fireplace.

Watch the high-spirited video and stay tuned for Opus Sound's review on the album.

The Aussie trio RÜFÜS has just unveiled a new video for 'Sundream', one of the most enticing tracks from the band's debut album 'Atlas'.

The full-length (released last year) was well received thanks to its fresh and broad take on dance music, combining a summer vibe with icy rhythms and a sense of hugeness, as if Jon George, Tyrone Lindqvist and James Hunt wanted to describe landscapes through music. It's riddled with joy and youth, while using dichotomies to create a vibrant sound: hot panoramas envisioned through cold samples, reckless beats encasing thoughtful lyrics and spaciousness suggested by small details.

The video for 'Sundream' upholds this imagery using shots of girls in bikini diving into water and plays with reflexions and kaleidoscopic effects to achieve crisp visuals. It sure makes us want to jump right away into those summer sweaty days. The single comes with remixes by Hayden James (which you can find right bellow), Claptone and Wordlife.

Still hot from their enormous single 'Ready For Your Love' released last January, which ranked at #4 in the UK Singles Chart thanks to its ravishing deep house imbued with urban aesthetics and MNEK's sensual vocals, British duo Gorgon City have unveiled their new single, 'Here for You'.

Featuring Laura Welsh (a singer also hailing from UK), the single still dresses itself in deep house axioms, but has this unexpected echo of a romantic and breezy narrative, written in lavish and ethereal synths and submerged basslines. Laura's vocals are like small pearls interwoven in the duo's electronic web, culminating in a perfect song for the warmer seasons. Gorgon City seem to be unstoppable, having released great singles over the last few months and helping produce the Klaxon's first single from their new full-length (check 'There Is No Other Time', taken from forthcoming album 'Love Frequency').

Listen to the song and watch the cool videoclip for 'Ready for Your Love', if you haven't already.

Sia Furler never minded a tiny bit about her own image. Many of her vídeos show her in goofy and ludicrous antics, specially if one recalls this Australian singer and songwriter's last album, 'We Are Born', released in 2010. In that album, Sia head jumped without fear into her most childish side and offered us a joyous, reckless and naive collection of songs that sounded fresh and filled with positive energies.

Since then, she's worked with several artists, from ubiquitous David Guetta to ethereal Creep, and even contributed to 'The Hunger Games - In Flames' movie OST with a wonderful song (alongside Diplo and The Weeknd).

Although there aren't many informations, it seems Sia is working on a new album and she has released the first taste of it: 'Chandelier'. The song, starting like a urban hip-hop song, soon changes into a vibrant ode to life and the strengh to win in it. It's pop at its best, with strong percussion and piano keys backing Sia's jubilant vocals.

As for the videoclip, Sia decided to go even further in toying with her image, erasing it almost completely from the video and becoming invisible; only her straw yellow hair remais (actually, one of her most recognizable features, besides her wonderful voice). Watch it below and listen to her song from the previously mentioned movie.

DFA Records has just released the video for Museum of Love's single 'Monotronic'. The duo, consisting of Pat Mahoney (founding member and drummer of LCD Soundsystem) and Dennis McNany (aka Jee Day) has already released two tracks, both with a welcome awkwardness inscribed into their electronic genetic imprints. While 'Monotronic' builds up at a constant pace and intentional monotonous singing, the visceral 'Down South' is a dark chop of techno with scary elements of nu-disco and barb wire synths.

They're currently working on their first album, with Dennis writing the music and Pat doing the vocal work, but they also had the time to feature in a song of Shit Robot's new album, 'We Got a Love' (read Opus Sound review to that record).

The video for 'Monotronic', directed and produced by Andrew Dresher, shows the duo playing a tiresome match of racquetball, sweat dripping from their faces, and then resting in a sauna, with dull looks.

Stay tuned for some more work from Museum of Love.

Moto Boy is Oskar Humlebo. He comes from Sweden and has been one of Opus Sound favourite artists since his first homonymous record released in 2008. His pop muisc is like light and frigile dendelion seeds, floating in a wave of synthetic romantism and elation. He sings about love, holding dear his belief in its mythical nature, but also completely aware of its impossibility. That's why his sound is intimate, grand, young, liturgic, sad, wild, desperate... To the acustic manoeuvres he sometimes adds subtle elements of vintage electronic music, which transform his cries into bursts of naive faith in the matters of the heart.

After his 2010 sophomore album, 'Lost in the Call', he worked on a soundtrack for a theatre play called 'Lubiewo - Kärleksön', but the time has come for a new album. 'Keep Your Darkness Secret' is Moto Boy's third record and comes with all we have come to love on this young and talented artist's music.

Obscure pianos and candid beats are the fulcrum of this 'Midnight Rain', the album's opening track, where Humlebo sings a sad ballad about being in love. His soaring and heartbreaking words lend the song a celestial feeling, as the lyrics sound both like a promise and a prayer. Trully a masterpiece!

You can also see his video for 'Too Young to Know', the second single. It's a more danceable track, with all the elements of his distinctive aura: glamorous and retro synths and great songwriting. 'Keep your Darkness Secret' is already out, since March 26, on swedish label Songs I Wish I Had Written.

Serendipity: besides being a curious word and one that I particularly like, refers to a fortuitous happenstance or a pleasant surprise usually by means of finding or achieving something by pure chance. I've got a lot of that while digging the web for music. Sometimes, I find a song by accident that totally blows my mind and makes me think that music is, and will always be, the only really faithful and constant thing in my life.

I'm telling you this because I've just stumbled upon 'Move On', a song by Garden City Movement, a trio from Tel Aviv, Israel composed of Joe, Roi and Johnny. Though young, they're not exactly freshmen, as all of them have worked in other music projects like Lorena B, and performed with artists like Disclosure, Apparat and Floating Points. These boys are signed to BLDG5 Records, having already released one EP called 'Entertainment' somewhere in November 2013, from where this wonderful track is unearthed.

'Move On' is a fragile thing, fusing acustic elements with slow r&b details. The song elegantely flutters around smooth and organic ambiences, like a silk curtain floating with a breeze. The soothing vocals sing about love, its loss and the following survival. Pure gold, really. The song has finaly received a video, directed by Michael Moshonov & Lael Utnik and it's a lovely and bold representation of love's universality.

"The video was made with love. In today's progressive world, it's still hard for people to accept love between the same sex. This clip goes to show exactly that. Also shows that even if a heart is broken, it was still worth feeling love even if it was too short", says Moshonov.

The EP has three other songs, all of them deserving your attention. Check the videoclip just below and be sure not to miss the new Garden City Movement EP, as it should drop this Spring.

Oh, and keep believing in serendipity. Sometimes it happens.

Truth be told, Client Liaison impressed us since the first time we've listened to their song 'End of the Earth', a few months back. Their coolness is undoubtdely sustained by the vintage style the australian duo formed by Harvey Miller and Monte Morgan have defined for themselves. From the sophisticated pop architectures upon which their songs develop to the evocative lyrics and retro outfits, hairstyles and videoclips, Client Liaison sure like to allude to the cosmopolitan lifestyle of the 80's.

Melbourne sure sounds like a vibrant place with many faces, where both urban and organic mingle seamlessly, so it's only natural that Client Liaison's music incorporates energetic rhythms and a great sense of spaciousness. But their new 12'' single, 'Free of Fear', is a buoyant and irresistible slice of pop, at times reminiscent of a Pet Shop Boys over-the-top song. There are crisp piano swirls and a screaming saxophone, but it all falls into place to offer a brilliant piece of work. You can listen to it and watch the funny clip below (directed by Jack Peddey and produced by Anita Spooner).

As for the B-side, 'That's Desire', it could easily be a single on its own right. It's even more energized and just begs for you to dance to its 90's infused backvocals and stirred rhythms. So damn good, really!

'Free of Fear' arrives with two awsome remixes by Knightlife and Com Truise who give new flavours to the original. While the also australian Knightlife revamps the track with the dynamics of dark clubs in mind. american Com Truise adds even more vintage layers to it. You can check them on Client Liaison's Soundcloud page, as both are worth the jump.
