He's a living legend.
Giorgio Moroder is the pioneer of modern electronic music, becoming famous during the 70s and the 80s when he founded synth disco and electronic dance music. He worked with Donna Summer, David Bowie, Blondie (just to name a few) and has composed original soundtracks for movies like Midnight Express, The Never Ending Story and Scarface. It's impossible to forget his classic hits for Queen of Disco Donna Summer, 'Love to Love You Baby' and 'I Feel Love'.
Now at 73 years old, Moroder's career seems to have been fueled again and he doesn't show any signs of slowing down. The Italian producer, songwriter, performer and DJ has recently collaborated with Daft Punk on their newest album, 'Random Access Memories', where he talks about his influential contribuition to music, and he is working on a new album (still untitled).
Now, he has reworked Coldplay's new single, 'Midnight', which will feature on the band's sixth full-lenght, 'Ghost Stories' (out 19 May). The original song shows Coldplay diverging from their alternative rock and joyous sound to an experimental and introspective take on electronics. Moroder's remix adds synthetic dreamscapes and epic and thrilling layers of magic, even tossing in some frech vocals filtered through vocoder effects. It's quite breathtaking and always a pleasure to listen to two brilliant and distinctive acts work out together in such a wonderous way.
Listen to the remix and check the videoclip for Coldplay's 'Midnight'.
