Sam Roberts Band - Shapeshifters (Young Galaxy Remix)

For anyone who followed Opus Sound's previous incarnations, it won't be surprising to know that we're absolute fans of Young Galaxy, a Canadian indie pop/ dream pop band (pictured above). Mantaining a low profile after two albums, the band released their their third LP in 2011, 'Shapeshifting' (produced by Dan Lissvik), receiving critical acclaim for the change in sound direction. Since then, they've embraced their balearic side and, in 2013, released 'Ultramarine', again with Lissvik production skill in the background.

Today, we're featuring a remix the band did for Juno Award-winning Canadian rock singer-songwriter Sam Roberts, who, under the moniker Sam Roberts Band, released his fifth album, 'Lo-Fantasy', on Paper Bag Records in last February. While the original song, 'Shapeshifters' is a colourful and sun soaked rock song - with handclaps and funky basslines -, Young Galaxy turn it into a eight minutes summer jam, dressed in psychedelic regalia and blissful harmonies. There are druggy synths and deep beats evoking a shamanic ritual and the band doesn't shy away from twisting the vocals or toying with the song's original material until we feel a wonderful sense of dizziness and rapture. As soon as you press play, you'll be craving to dance to this superb tune at a sunny beach in no time.

You'll love it and you won't be able to stop listening to it. Don't say we didn't warn you.
